REFERENCE REPORT
AachenMünchener Aachen
The new build and the extension at the head office …
… of insurance company AachenMünchener are prime examples of how a 30,000-square-metre office complex can be incorporated into the existing cityscape and the grand 19th-century buildings of Aachen in a way that is both architecturally appealing and highly functional.
With its transparent facades and connecting walkways, the building complex systematically lives up to the aim of an open and communicative quarter. In terms of interior design, the architects limited themselves to a handful of colours and selected materials. Black elements add a creative flourish and guide the eye around the white space, whether as edging on the facade, an isolated patch of carpet or a single black wall.
With so much spaciousness, there is a need for visual grounding and excellent sound absorption – criteria that are satisfied by the flatness of the anthracite ANKER PERLON RIPS carpet used in the new offices and executive suites.
