REFERENCE REPORT

Landtag Brandenburg Potsdam, Germany

ANKER Referenz Landtag Brandenburg

The Brandenburg State Parliament unites history and future – quite literally.

Not only are decisions for future times made here, but the newly constructed building behind historical facades is also located on a site with 500 years of historical significance. And what could be more fitting as flooring for the offices and meeting rooms than PERLON RIPS – the traditional carpet from ANKER.

From the time of Elector Friedrich Wilhelm through the modern era, the Prussian kings‘ city palace stood on the Alter Markt in Potsdam. Destroyed during World War II, the building was dismantled a few years later. Since then, the area has remained undeveloped except for some roads passing through it.

As the provisional parliament building became dilapidated, a new parliament building was necessary. Architect Prof. Peter Kulka‘s design envisioned the new state parliament as a bridge to the past. Thus, following the original floor plan, the building‘s outlines and elevations were reconstructed according to historical models, while the interior was designed to accommodate modern parliamentary operations.
