The Germanisches Nationalmuseum is the largest cultural history museum in the German-speaking world. Reconstructed between 1955 and 1959, it bears the unmistakable signature of renowned architect Franz Joseph Ruf, who helped shape the post-war architectural style known as the New Building. His museum expansions uniquely blend modern elements with historical structures. The building is not only architecturally impressive, but also houses a remarkable collection.

A particular highlight is the public scientific library specializing in art and cultural history. With over 700,000 volumes, 1,695 ongoing periodicals, 3,380 manuscripts, around 1,000 incunabula, and 3,000 prints from the 16th century, it is a unique repository of knowledge that bridges the old and the new.
